Sierra's Other Wins and Accomplishments

May 12, 2023 - I convince Larry to let me show Sierra one last time at the Barbary Coast Specialty! Sierra turned 12 in January, and for
having a spayed coat, she looks lovely, and still move great. It has been 4 years since her last show. Mutiple mammary tumors, an accident that
caused her to lose her spleen, and an eye abrasion that took months to heal.

BUT - she showed lovely, and received an Award of Merit from Judge Lee Ann Bateman.

It was an emotional day for me for the following all went through my head:

The anniversary of Lhotse's death

The last of  Lhotse's line

The last Denali puppy

The last time (maybe) I would have my girl in the ring. The Sweepstakes win picture caught my emotions!

In 2018 at the Woofstock Cluster I told Sierra I wouldn't drag her around to shows anymore. She loves the ring, but not the bath or car ride to get to the shows. So that elusive last major for her Grand Championship was not going to happen.

BUT - 2019 started off horribly with Sierra having multiple surgeries to remove mammary tumors, and we lost her beautiful mother Chamonix, all in January.
More surgery and we spayed Sierra in February of 2019, and kept her belly shaved watching for more tumors.
None came, and by April she was playing like a puppy with puppy Jazzi!

SO I ENTERED HER IN OUR BARBARY COAST SAMOYED CLUB SPECIALTIES.

THEN SHE BLEW COAT, NEARLY ALL OF IT!

But, I bathed her and she looked fine, and I knew we would have fun, and boy did we. Sierra floated around the ring like she was a puppy.
She stacked like a million dollars in Veteran Sweepstakes, and WON!

We went on to win our veteran class in the first show, and in final lineup, Sierra was SELECT BITCH - TO FINISH HER GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP, from the Veteran Class, just like her Daddy Denali. I couldn't have been happier!

And puppy Jazzi had taken Winner's Bitch for a 4 point major, so it was a great specialty for us!

March 2018 - Sierra receives her AKC Achiever Award in the mail!

2018 - Let's see if Sierra can finish her Grand Championship from the Veteran Class! Off to a good start, going Best of Opposite Sex and Best of Breed Owner Handled at the Santa Clara Valley Kennel Club show in February. One more major to go! Judge was Ms. Sharon Smith.

We haven't done much in the last year, a few select wins here and there, but Sierra still needs her two majors to finish her Grand Championship. But, for fun I took her to the close by Sierra Tuolumne Kennel Club shows in October 2017, and she was BOS and BOBOH on Saturday. And on Sunday, she was Best of Breed, and BOBOH (best of breed owner handled) under breeder judge Diane Landstrom. AND received a Group 1 in the Owner Handled group under judge Sheile Paske. Pictures of both wins.

October 2016 - Samoyed Club of America National in Albany Oregon. Sierra places 4th in Advanced Working Sweepstakes and 3rd in Regular Working Class.

March 27, 2016 - Finally the stars align and Sierra gets her first major toward her Grand Championship under Judge Jon Cole.

February 20 and 21st, 2015 - Sierra goes Select both days at the Santa Clara Kennel Club shows for 2 more points each day toward her Grand Championship, points she doesn't need, needs the majors!

December 10 - 13, 2015 - Sierra goes Best of Opposite sex all 4 days, but no majors, she picked up 5 points. She was best owner handled two days,
and got a Group 3 in Owner Handled. Thursday's judge was breeder Judge Jeanne Zuver and Sunday's Camellia Capital Kennel Club Judge was Mr. Ole Nielsen, he also judged the group.
Sierra now has 16 points toward her grand championship, and needs to find the majors, that will probably take us another year!

November 21, 2015 - A 2 point Select win under Judge John Wade - wow, up to 11 - but need those majors!

October 25, 2015 - Sierra goes Select under Judge Janet Robinson for 1 point, up to 9!

October 24, 2015 - Sierra goes Select under Judge Linda Fowler, for point number 8.

October 10, 2015 - In less than 10 seconds Sierra locates the correct tube with a Rat for the Rat Instinct title. RATI We probably won't go further with these events, as training and trials require travel that Sierra doesn't care for. If it was just the trials, but training and traveling aren't for this little girl!

September 10, 2015 - Sierra earns her Rally Novice title, and over the weekend picks up her Beginners Novice Obedience title as well.

August 1, 2015 - Sierra goes Select under Judge Carolyn Herbel for point number 7. There were only 2 class bitches today, so lucky to get a point.

In May Sierra took 3 Select wins with no points, no class bitches!

April 18, 2015 - Sierra goes Select under Judge Doris Cozart for point number 6.

March 19, 2015 - Sierra goes select, again one dog absent or would have been a 2 pointer. Breeder Judge Joan Luna Liebes.

February 16, 2015 - Sierra pick up point 4, Select under Judge Donnelle Richards.

February 15, 2015 - Sierra's 3rd point for Grand. Best of Opposite under Judge Eva Berg. One dog short of a 2 pointer!

January 31, 2015 - Sierra gets her 2nd point toward her Grand Championship. She goes Select under Judge Mr. Tomez for 1 point.

January 11, 2015 - Sierra gets her International Championship with 3 best of breed wins and 3 group placements!

November 22, 2014 - Sierra's first point toward her Grand Championship. She goes Select under Judge Donna Buxton for 1 point.
